Housebuilders sitting on 600,000 building plots

The 9 largest UK house builders currently sit on a land bank of 600,000 building plots at a time when the government is trying to solve the housing crisis.

The government wants to build 1 million new homes by 2020 which would require 200,000 new properties every year. Currently only 150,000 are being built.

In the governments autumn statement George Osborne announced plans to boost new homes by offering £2bn to construct 400,000 affordable homes by the end of the decade, release public land to build another 160,000 homes and a help to buy scheme for first time buyers in London who are struggling to get on the housing ladder.

According to current financial statements the top 9 house builders have the following land banks.
