Governments how to rent guide for tenants

Landlords must legally issue tenants with the ‘How To Rent Guide’ before a tenacy begins

It is now a landlords legal responsibility to issue a tenant the governments guide ‘How To Rent’ before a new tenacy begins. They must also give the new tenant a copy of the EPC.

A copy of the guide can be found at
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-rent

This guide is for tenants and landlords in the private rented sector to help them understand their rights and responsibilities. It provides a checklist and more detailed information on each stage of the process, including:

what to look out for before renting
living in a rented home
what happens at the end of a tenancy
what to do if things go wrong

If a landlord fails to issue both the How to Rent guide and the EPC and then requires to evict the tenants, the failure to issue will result in delays.
