Contest offers year’s free living in luxury London flat

It’s a prize with a difference – the opportunity to live rent-free for a year in a double-bedroom penthouse apartment in Kensington Church Street, London.

It’s a prize with a difference – the opportunity to live rent-free for a year in a double-bedroom penthouse apartment in Kensington Church Street, London.

The competition is being put on by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks to mark the opening of their Studio B ‘store’ in London.

Studio B, a sort of experimental bank, is also pledging to match-fund money that the winner manages to save during the year to put towards a deposit on their own home (up to £2,000 per month).

The competition is being hosted by TV presenter Amanda Lamb, who will be putting applicants through their paces.

All aspiring winners have to do is to turn up at Studio B in Kensington High Street on the day – April 27 – and take part in a general knowledge round, plus complete cooking, gardening and DIY challenges, apparently designed to show that they have the skills to look after a property.

Another TV presenter, Rick Edwards, will be entertaining the public as they queue.

Of course, as letting agents know, it won’t be quite that simple: entrants will have to take with them full ID, proof of address and employment, be aged 18 or over, have the right to live and work in the UK, and must be able to move in on May 27 for 12 months. That sounds like a lot of referencing.
